Need for Study

In recent years, a shift has been made for many choral organizations to prioritize and center the voices of under-represented communities. As many music educators work towards including AEDI-D practices into choral spaces, it is evident that the need for these resources continues.

Many Canadian and American choral and music education organizations, on the national and provincial/territorial/state level, such as Ontario Music Educators’ Association, Chorus America, American Choral Directors Association, to name a few, have begun re-evaluating of their values and missions. Additionally, made resources available, created or amended mission statements and action/strategic plans, created AEDI-D/Advocacy standing committees/boards, and created/continued content for professional development opportunities (webinars, panels, masterclasses, workshops, symposiums, etc.).

With that, this research comes as a comprehensive platform that allows users to effectively access, discover new resources, as well as to share resources amongst colleagues chosen with the lens of AEDI-D and to uplift the voices of under-represented communities within the choral and music community.
